URGENT NEWS UPDATE

Changes at the top.

AWAL has grown during 2009, in more ways than one. More members with more aircraft, more responsibilities under the self administration of Limited Category, and a much, much greater workload. Until recently this workload was borne by the committee of voluntary Directors and a couple of paid consultants. With this team, we achieved the substantial goal of self admin, thus preserving the right to fly aircraft that would otherwise be grounded. We have many to thank...

The Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatross

A great opportunity to own and fly the world’s most popular jet warbird.

The Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatross is popular because it is built like the proverbial brick dunny, it is reliable, spares are readily obtainable, and the safety record is excellent. It has performance that exceeds that of WW2 fighters at a fraction of the purchase...

LIMITED CATEGORY AIRCRAFT CERTIFICATES OF AIRWORTHINESS

Important notice to all owners and operators of Limited Category aircraft. We have known for some time that, particularly during the early days of Limited Category, certain maintenance organizations made errors when they issued Certificates of Airworthiness. It is important that these errors be identified and corrected; accordingly, it is important that ALL CofA’s be checked by AWAL.

All owners / operators are therefore requested  to photocopy ALL pages of their aircraft’s...

AWAL ACHIEVES MAJOR MILESTONE

CASA’s CEO John McCormick has signed the instrument that empowers AWAL to administer Limited Category according to our approved manuals. AWAL can now issue all approvals and paperwork required to get a “new” limited category aircraft flying, or to keep an existing one flying.
This has been the BIGGEST hurdle AWAL has faced in the 2 ½ years of hard work towards self administration, and has taken 8 months of constant work by AWAL and CASA teams. It was very pleasing...

OV-10 IN AUSTRALIA FOR THE AWM

Thanks to AWAL member Paul Nolte for sending us this email regarding the arrival of an OV-10 into Australia for the Australian War Museum.

Gents,

From a OV-10 Fans web site, I learnt of a Bronco recently arrived into Australia in a container. Checked with Peter Condin, one of the ex-FAC pilots, and John While, the AWM Curator, for the details.
Could not fine a suitable Philippino OV-10 Bronco, so have used a "file photo".
