29 June, 2007 - MATT HENDERSON'S CT4A A19-046

CT4A

New AWAL member Matt Henderson has sent the following very interesting email plus a great picture of his new pride and joy. Thanks Matt, welcome to AWAL ; the aeroplane really looks great.

G'day Dave,

Thought I'd contribute as a new member to AWAL and new to warbirds.

Attached is a picture of VH-MCT which is an ex-RAAF CT4A serial number A19-046 which is somewhat unique for a CT4 as it never spent any time at 1FTS.  A19-046 spent its entire Air Force life at the Aircraft Research and Development Unit being used in a variety of development and test activities before being sold at auction in 1993.  The airframe has just over 2000 hours and although in very good condition, does need some attention to the paintwork, we plan to have it fully restored sometime in the next 12 months to get her looking 'as new' again.  There is a boyhood link to this recent purchase for me (as with most members and their aircraft I'm guessing), I grew up at Point Cook in the 70's and spent many years watching CT4s doing circuits, aerobatics and airwork hoping one day that'd be me....nearly 30 years later and no more hoping :-)

Cheers,
Matt Henderson
